History of the Institute
Industrial Training Institute, Kailashahar has been set up by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Tripura in the year 1962 with only six different trades namely Draughtsman(Civil) , Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Surveyor and Stenography(English) under the Craftsman Training Scheme(CTS) to impart training to unemployed youth of this area. The Institute is affiliated to the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) under Directorate General of Employment & Training, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, New Delhi. . In the year 2002, the Directorate General of Employment and Training(DGE&T), Govt. of India had funded Rs1.30 crore for the upgradation of the Institute for additional six trades and 50(fifty) seated hostel for boys under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme Establishments of Industrial Training Institutes(ITIs) in the North Eastern States and Sikkim. The Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Tripura has implemented the scheme with additional fund and manpower. The Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Tripura has constituted Institute Managing Committee(IMC) of ITI, Kailashahar in respect of the Institute in the year 2010 and the Directorate General of Employment and Training(DGE&T), Govt. of India has released Rs2.5 crore interest free loan to this Institute in the year 2011 under the Scheme Upgradation of 1396 Government ITIs through Public Private Partnership for the implementation of Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Electronics sector. The Government of Tripura also placed additional fund for the implementation of CoE. The Institute also got registered as a Vocational Training Provider(VTP) in the year 2010 under the Skill Development Initiative (SDI) Scheme to conduct 12(twelve) different Modular Employable Skills (MES) courses.

2.To improve the quality and quantity of industrial production by systematic training of workers.
3.To reduce the unemployment among the educated youths and equipping them for suitable industrial employments.
